May 31, 2013 - 2.6 mile wide El Reno, Oklahoma Tornado
A day in weather history that will live in infamy. The El Reno, Oklahoma tornado is the largest on record at 2.6 miles wide. Mobile doppler radar measured wind speeds of 297mph.
The storm took the lives of storm chasers Tim Samaras, Paul Samaras, and Carl Young. The tornado impacted several other storm chaser vehicles, but everyone besides Twistex escaped with their lives.

May 28, 2013 - Bennington, Kansas Stationary Wedge Tornado
A day that started out as a massive slight risk expanding across over a dozen states, with a broad 5% tornado risk. The Bennington, Kansas EF3 tornado was an incredible display of what nature is capable of.
The tornado lasted for over 45 minutes and remained mostly stationary over rural area and caused zero injuries or fatalities. You can read the entire account here.
